Product Policy and Data Analyst

More than 1.6 billion people use Facebook each month to connect with friends, family, and favorite public figures over the events and topics that matter most to them. As part of the Content Policy team, you will work with a highly talented and experienced team of subject matter experts on content policies for Facebook and Instagram. You will be responsible for understanding both Facebook and Instagram’s business priorities, helping the team craft and implement policies that best serve the company and the people who use our services.

We’re looking for a data analyst or data scientist with a passion for Internet technology and social science research to work with our product policy team. You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the world, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights turned into actionable policy insights on a regular basis. The perfect candidate will have a background in a quantitative social science, will have experience working with large data sets, and will have some experience in data-driven decision making. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to answer policy-relevant questions

This role will be located at Menlo Park, CA; Washington, DC; or Dublin office.

Responsibilities

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand complex, multidimensional policy questions.
  • Partner with Policy, Data Science and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
  • Inform, influence, support, and execute our product and policy decisions and launches.
  • This role has work across the following three areas:
  • 1) Data Infrastructure
  • Work using SQL-like data extraction languages.
  • Authoring pipelines via SQL and python based ETL framework.
  • Building key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis.
  • Automating analyses.
  • 2) Exploratory Analysis
  • Translating raw data into usable insights.
  • Evaluating and defining metrics.
  • Identifying time trends and robust relationships between variables.
  • Hypothesis testing and causal inference.
  • 3) Presentation
  • Communicating results of statistical analyses to product and policy teams.
  • Conducting background research and literature reviews.

Facebook is looking for a Regional Product Marketing Manager to drive product adoption and go-to-market strategies for our Brand Advertising Solutions in the Greater China Region. The successful candidate will have experience working with sales and cross-functional teams to drive product adoption in a fast-paced company. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of brand advertiser objectives and brand advertising solutions, a focus on client service, and the ability to thrive in a highly cross-functional, dynamic environment. This is a full-time position based in our Hong Kong office.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Greater China sales teams to drive product understanding, adoption and growth with brand advertising customers, agencies, and partners
  • Partner with the overall Product Marketing team in California and England to help roll out new advertising products and feature enhancements.
  • Partner closely with Sales Training to lead, design and participate in training programs to further product knowledge within Sales.
  • Work with Marketing Communications team to ensure product materials are customized for market use and marketing channels are leveraged.
  • Distill and surface market feedback to product teams for new and existing advertising products
  • Run scaled alpha and beta tests in market. Aggregate individual clients needs into broader trends/analysis.
  • Inspire action through data-driven insights & identify scalable path to grow product adoption in region
  • Unlock barriers to adoption and success

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years professional experience in technology or advertising.
  • Has demonstrated product marketing expertise and the ability to contribute at strategic, operational and tactical levels
  • Track record of influencing behavior at variety of levels in the organization, including cross-functional managersStrong customer service orientation and experience in a client-facing capacity
  • Has demonstrated the ability to drive resolution in the context of competing perspectives
  • Has excellent organization and people skills and the ability to be flexible and set priorities, problem-solve, multi-task and work well independently in a dynamic, rapidly changing workplace
  • Excellent communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and English – written, verbal and presentation

Network Data Analyst

Facebook designs, builds and operates one of the largest and fastest growing Content Delivery Networks in the world. The Edge Network team is responsible for egress capacity for all products, including Facebook Newsfeed, Live, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus, and more. We are looking for the right person to lead a global team of talented network professionals to engage with ISP partners to identify and solve a wide array of challenges in both developed and emerging markets. Our goals of enabling massive scalability, reliable serving, and fantastic performance are critical to put video at the heart of all our apps and services.Facebook is looking for someone with a strong desire to influence Facebook’s network and software build plans by bringing together multiple large datasets around product performance, reliability, network metrics, & location. This is a highly collaborative role that will require working with many teams across network planning & engineering, CDN & product software engineering, technical program management, and more. Any day could include providing engineers with data to understand the impact of their latest software deployments in markets and network conditions across the globe, or working with network planners to visualize performance and reliability data to share with ISPs to help them improve their networks. The responsibilities of the role are diverse and flexible, with opportunity to expand over time. This position is full time and based in our headquarters in Menlo Park and will report directly to the Director of Edge Network and CDN.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross functionally with highly technical software and network infrastructure teams, understand their goals, collect data, and produce analyses to inform future direction for individuals and teams.
  • Communicate final recommendations and drive decision making to key stakeholders.
  • Leverage data, engineering and business principles to solve large scale web, mobile and data infrastructure challenges.
  • Leverage tools like PHP, Python, Hadoop & SQL to drive efficient analytics and decision making.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in an technical field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Management Science)
  • 5+ years of coding with a data analysis language such as PHP, C, R, Python, etc.
  • 3+ years of SQL experience.
  • Understanding of statistics and optimization techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with medium to large datasets (i.e. data extraction, cleaning, analysis and presentation).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical insights from complex data sets.

Are You a Developer Relations Engineer

As a Developer Relations Engineer at Oculus, you’ll play a critical role in the future of virtual reality content, entertainment, and applications. You’ll be the primary technical contact between Oculus and key developers/content partners supporting the developer relations team, providing valuable insight to the rest of the organization and helping to build the tools and technologies that will make VR a success.You have extensive experience optimizing graphics and engine performance on multiple platforms and are very comfortable traveling, speaking publicly and guiding teams to execute against your recommendations. The ideal candidate has worked extensively in Unreal and/or Unity, prior experience in VR is a definite plus.

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert on virtual reality integration.
  • Support the organization in executing on a vision that brings great virtual reality content and applications to the Oculus platform.
  • Represent developers as their champion within the Oculus engineering teams, translating developer needs into HW and SW features and capabilities.
  • Continually expand tools, demo materials and technologies to reduce integration times, improve VR debugging and raise the quality of VR experiences across the board.
  • Sit down with developers to analyze their existing code and optimize for the Oculus Rift.
  • Support developers in implementing new SDK builds and adding support for new prototypes.
  • Support the global team in providing content for shows and events.
  • Be an expert on, discover, and update the best practices through observation and interactions with VR developers.
  • Identify and create tools / materials to help minimize the cost and maximize the quality of VR integrations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of C++ coding for 3D graphics or middleware.
  • Experience applying 3D mathematics and algorithms to game development.
  • 5+ years experience with graphics and engine performance optimization.
  • 3+ years experience collaborating with game developers and engineers.
  • Willingness to travel – up to 20% of the time.
  • 5+ years experience in Unreal, native or Unity engines.
